空間を構想する / Envisioning Space

　世界は、空間と時間でできています。空間は手で触ることも口で味わうこともできませんが、それにもかかわらず、私たち人類はより良い空間を生み出すことに、多くのエネルギーを費やしてきました。


　私たち空間構想は、良質な空間は人と社会を豊かにすると考えています。空間が持つ力を信じ、その可能性を広げ、その場所にふさわしい空間を見つけたい。空間のよろこびを多くの人に届けたい。

　空間を構想する力を使って、この時代に生きていることのよろこびを分かち合える社会を育てることが私たちの使命です。

Space cannot be touched with our hands or tasted with our mouths, yet humanity has devoted great energy to creating better spaces throughout history.

プロフィール / PRINCIPAL ARCHITECT

川添 善行
建築家、東京大学 准教授。
1979年生まれ。東京大学工学部建築学科卒業後、オランダ留学などを経て、建築がもつ役割を拡張すべく世界の都市再生の研究を通して、建築デザインの社会的可能性を広げている。
32歳のときに、東京大学に自身の研究室を開設し、国内外にて数多くの実践を行う一方、書籍などの執筆を通してデザイン理論の構築を行なっている。
「東京大学総合図書館」や「インド工科大学中央図書館」などの公共的なプロジェクトや、「四国村ミウゼアム」「望洋楼」など企業との連携も得意とする。
『OVERLAP』（鹿島出版会）、『EXPERIENCE』（鹿島出版会）、『空間にこめられた意思をたどる』（幻冬舎）、『このまちに生きる』（彰国社）などの著作では新しいデザインの実践を理論化している。
東京建築賞最優秀賞、日本建築学会作品選集新人賞、グッドデザイン未来づくりデザイン賞、ロヘリオ・サルモナ・南米建築賞名誉賞、BELCA賞、メセナ大賞など国内外の賞を多数受賞し、日蘭建築文化協会会長などを務める。

Yoshiyuki Kawazoe

Architect, Associate Professor at the University of Tokyo
Born in 1979, he graduated from the Department of Architecture, Faculty of Engineering at the University of Tokyo, and, after studying in the Netherlands, expanded the scope of architecture’s role through research on urban regeneration worldwide, broadening the social potential of architectural design.

At the age of 32, he established his own laboratory at the University of Tokyo, where he has since engaged in numerous projects both in Japan and abroad, while also developing design theory through publications. His work spans public projects such as the University of Tokyo General Library and the Indian Institute of Technology Central Library, as well as collaborations with private enterprises, including the Shikoku Mura Museum and Bōyōrō.

His books, including OVERLAP (Kajima Publishing), EXPERIENCE (Kajima Publishing), Tracing the Intentions Embedded in Space (Gentosha), and Living in This Town (Shokokusha), theorize new approaches to design based on practice.

He has received numerous domestic and international awards, such as the Tokyo Architecture Award Grand Prize, the Architectural Institute of Japan New Face Award, the Good Design Award for Future Design, the Rogelio Salmona Honorary Prize for South American Architecture, the BELCA Award, and the Mecenat Award. He also serves as President of the Japan–Netherlands Architectural Cultural Association.
