大学の産学連携の拠点として想定された建築である。
独立心の旺盛なベンチャーの企業に自分のアジトのように使っていただきたいので、１つ１つが独立した建物が集まって村となるような構造を空間として翻訳することを考えた。その結果、平面の大きな建物を間仕切りで分割するよりも、それぞれの環境は直接光や外気に接することができる。さらに、それぞれのユニットを結ぶ外部廊下は、意図せぬ出会いのきっかけになるようにと考えた。
これらの空間を柱梁のフレームという明快な構造システムによって構成しているが、そのフレームの微妙な差異の反復によって、群としての豊かさを生み出したいと考えた。なお、設計が終了した後、大学の皆さんに気に入っていただき、同じ設計で隣接する敷地にもう１棟が建設されることになった。同じデザインの建物が２棟並んでいる様子は、インドの皆さんの信頼の証しだと考えている。
This building was conceived as a hub for university-industry collaboration.
We wanted it to serve as a base for independent venture companies, so we envisioned a structure where individual buildings come together to form a village-like community. As a result, rather than dividing a large building into sections with partitions, each space can directly access natural light and fresh air. Additionally, the external corridors connecting each unit were designed to encourage serendipitous encounters.
These spaces are constructed using a clear structural system of columns and beams, but we aimed to create richness as a group through the repetition of subtle variations in the frame. After the design was completed, it was well-received by the university community, and another building with the same design was constructed on an adjacent site. The sight of two buildings with the same design side by side is a testament to the trust of the Indian community.
